SHT-00Paid ads

We do not buy traffic until we know who we want to buy it from.

Google Ads for the people already searching for what you do. Meta only when your business has something to show or someone to reach again. Both only after the path behind the click can turn it into a call and count it.

SHT-01Google Ads

Google Ads: what is done on every account.

  1. 01

    Search intent

What your buyers actually type, from Keyword Planner and from your own call log, in their words rather than the trade's.

  2. 02

    Keywords and negatives

The terms worth paying for, and the ones that are not: job seekers, do-it-yourself, free, the software your trade uses.

  3. 03

    Structure

Campaigns by service and by type of buyer, never one campaign for everything, so a budget goes to what pays.

  4. 04

    Geography

Your real service area, with the places you do not drive to excluded.

  5. 05

    Calls

Call campaigns and call assets with a tracking number, because for a service business the call is the conversion.

  6. 06

    Landing pages

One page per group of services, saying what the ad said, with a number that dials.

  7. 07

    Tracking

Calls, forms and bookings counted as conversions, and the booked job fed back so Google learns what a good lead looks like.

  8. 08

    Weekly review

The search terms report read every week; money spent on the wrong searches is cut the same day.

SHT-02Meta

Meta, only when one of these is true.

Emergency and intent-driven trades, the burst pipe or the dead air conditioner, get Google first. Meta is for demand people do not type into a search box.

  1. 01

    People buy with their eyes

Remodels, saunas, detailing, beauty: work that looks like something in a photo or a video.

  2. 02

There is someone to reach again

Enough visitors to your site, or enough people who called, to be worth showing an ad to a second time.

  3. 03

    There is a customer list

Past customers whose likeness Meta can look for.

  4. 04

    A tight local area

Being known in a few towns before the need arises.

SHT-03When Meta is a yes

What is built when Meta fits.

  1. 01

    Audiences

Cold, warm and past customers kept apart, so each sees a different message.

  2. 02

    Creative

Your own photos and videos of real work, not stock, with one offer per campaign.

  3. 03

    Lead forms or the page

Forms inside Facebook and Instagram that land in your CRM at once, or traffic to a page that matches the ad.

  4. 04

    Testing

A few creatives at a time, the losers switched off on a schedule rather than by feel.

SHT-05Break-even

What can a click cost before it loses you money?

Four numbers from your own business. The answer is a ceiling to hold Google or Meta against, not a forecast.

Gross profit per job
$1,000
Most a lead can cost
$300
Most a click can cost
$24
Leads per job won
3.3
Clicks per job won
41.7

Above these, each job bought through the ad costs more than it earns, before any management fee. Below them is where a campaign has room to pay.

SHT-06What we learned on our own account

Things we learned paying for our own ads.

Meta has no negative keywords, and detailed targeting is only a suggestion to the algorithm. The controls it always obeys are location, language, age, excluded audiences and placements, so those are what protect a budget there.

On our own first test, almost every click came from game and app placements that never produced a lead. They are switched off on every account we run.

SHT-07Price

What it costs to run.

A flat monthly fee, never a percentage of what you spend. The ad spend is paid by you to Google or Meta from your own accounts.

Run

One Channel

$1,500 / month

One acquisition channel worked every week (Google Ads, or search and AI visibility), the page it sends people to, upkeep of the CRM and the follow-up, and a monthly report of leads and booked jobs by source.

Run

Full Path

$2,500 / month

Google Ads and search and AI visibility together, conversion work on the pages, follow-up and receptionist tuning, call tracking, a call every two weeks, and a monthly report with revenue by source where the CRM records it.

Run

Multi

from $4,000 / month

Full Path plus Meta with creative testing, several locations or service lines, and a monthly strategy session.

How Run works →

SHT-08General notes

Before you ask.

N01How much should I spend on Google Ads?
Start from the ceiling the calculator above gives from your own numbers: the most a lead can cost before it loses money. The starting budget is set in the Blueprint and moved weekly on what the search terms report shows.
N02Do you charge a percentage of my ad spend?
No. Run is a flat fee, from $1,500 a month for one channel, and the ad spend is paid by you to the platform with no markup.
N03Who owns the ad account?
You do, from the first day. We work in it with access you grant and can take away.
N04How fast will ads bring customers?
Nobody can honestly promise a number or a date. The first weeks show which searches bring calls and which waste money, and the monthly report shows booked jobs by source.
N05Do I need a new website to run ads?
Not necessarily. Ads need a page that says what the ad said and dials. Sometimes that is your current page with three fixes; sometimes it is a landing page from $1,200.
